JOURNEY TO PSYCHOLOGIST
NAVIGATING AN unstructured INTERNSHIP DURING LOCKDOWN
During May 2020, SIOPSA hosted three online focus group discussions aimed at gaining input from Emerging Psychologists busy with their unstructured internships. Covid-19 brought with it a set of unplanned challenges that could not have been foreseen by anyone, let alone the interns. Lockdown forced the interns to continue with their journey being separated from colleagues at work to that of solitude within a home environment. Remote office communication and in certain instances no communication had to be dealt with.
In conclusion, the SIOPSA Vision Forward Committee, in collaboration with the panel members/facilitators, compiled a document that describes the immediate details and practical implications of having to navigate an unstructured internship. The immediate details can be found in the document below.
