THE SYSTEMS PSYCHODYNAMICS INTEREST GROUP PROUDLY PRESENTS:
Systems Psychodynamic Leadership Coaching Workshop
Working with the unconscious in the system
CPDs
This workshop will be presented twice (consisting of 2 parts each)
The SIOPSA Interest Group in Systems Psychodynamics of Organisations (IGSPO) invites you to attend this workshop as an opportunity to learn about and strengthening your coaching competence in working with the unconscious in the client system, using the Systems Psychodynamic approach. This includes earning CPD points. For more information, visit the SIOPSA webpage at www.siopsa.org.za.
Systems Psychodynamics (SP). As a coaching stance, SP studies, explores and addresses conscious / rational and unconscious / irrational organisational behaviour (in the ice-berg metaphor) as it manifests in the client’s intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and organisational experiences. This includes the content, process and dynamic behaviours related to task, role formation, boundary management, leadership, authority and identity forming. It is believed that the manifestation of the observable and rational systemic behaviour above the surface is influenced from below the surface of consciousness by individual and collective anxiety, and the defensive structures used to deal with the complexity and irrationality of organisational systems.
Who should attend
This workshop is designed for Psychologists in all categories in Psychology with some experience in leadership coaching, interested in understanding the role of the unconscious in leadership coaching.
Primary task of the workshop
The primary task is to provide opportunities for participants to study the unconscious manifestation of systemic leadership behaviour, to take up the role as leadership coach to these dynamics, and to process the learning towards its application in their own work environments.
Design of the workshop
Based on the Systems Psychodynamic Leadership Coaching Stance and Group Relations Training methods (also referred to as the Tavistock Approach) the workshop includes limited theory, experiential learning and the review and application of the learning.
What participants can expect to learn
Learning opportunities are provided for participants in Systems Psychodynamic leadership dynamic diagnosis and development skills, differentiation between positive/negative capacity, rational and unconscious/irrational organisational behaviour, awareness of self and using the self as instrument, interpretation of dynamics and formulation of working hypotheses towards influencing a work system below the surface. This includes an ethical awareness whilst working with unconscious behaviour, and The Seven Eye Supervision Model (Peter Hawkins).
